*πText: Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”*
The foes before the Children of Israel and their soon-to-be leader Joshua, were mighty and numerous. It was natural for them to be afraid. But Moses, in his last speech to them, admonished them to be strong and courageous because God Himself would go before them and He would never forsake them. When someone tells you not to be afraid of something, he must give you a convincing reason for that assurance not to be afraid.
*Also, the capacity of the person backing you would determine if you should truly not be afraid.* Whenever God appeared to most people in the Bible, *He would introduce Himself to them most times as the God of their Fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.* In other words, He was saying to them that He never failed their fathers and He would never fail them.
In our lives today, we face several challenges and uncertainties. We are tempted to rely on our own strength or become terrified. *God is saying to us to be strong and courageous in the face of battles and challenges whether it is in our finances, marriages, relationships, career, health or academics.* The reason why you shouldn’t be afraid is that God is with you. This is the same God that fought for His people.
Let us remind ourselves that He is always with us. Let us cling to the truth that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Let us find strength in Him who promised to be with us always.
*ππΌPrayer: Faithful Father, Let Your Presence Give Me Courage in the Face of Tough Challenges and Battles. Amen.*
